DEADWOOD MOUNTAIN GRAND offers multiple opportunities: continue operating and maintaining Black Hills’ most well-known hotel and casino, the future opportunity to develop and customize chalets and facilitate more attraction to the resort and town.
The Deadwood Mountain Grand Resort (“DMG”) opened in 2011 and has become one of the finest lodging and entertainment facilities in the Upper Midwest, becoming #1 in the world within the IHG brand family. Forbes recently named “the DMG” the top luxury hotel in South Dakota.
The Deadwood Mountain Grand Resort is now under new ownership and a new management philosophy that promotes fresh programming concepts. A key opportunity to the future would be developing 60 chalets, with a total of 127 rooms, on commercially zoned land owned by the resort adjacent to the existing facilities. The chalets could be added to the resort room inventory in perpetuity and managed by the hotel, increasing room capacity from 98 to 240 with all-new VIP Suite level accommodations driving the top ADR in the market. The added units and additional occupied nights would significantly increase revenue in all operating departments, enhancing profit margins from added revenue and economies of scale.
The property is in the heart of historic Deadwood, South Dakota. It is less than an hour’s drive from Mt. Rushmore NationalMemorial, Crazy Horse Memorial, Devils Tower National Monument, Custer State Park and is within a 90-minute drive from BadlandsNational Park. The Historic National Trust designates the entire city of Deadwood as a national historic landmark. Each year, more than 3 million visitors come to Deadwood to enjoy the town’s unique features and the surrounding area featuring year-round activities and events. Currently, approximately 400,000 of those visitors are drawn to the Deadwood Mountain Grand.
