Nate has been involved in the real estate industry for more than 40 years and has conducted an extensive number of notable transactions. His venture into real estate and investment services started in the residential market. After a few years he affiliated with The Carl Storey Company in Nashville and in 1988, he decided to take his innovative approach to the commercial real estate sector and establish TVG, Inc.with partner Tony Vaughn.
A strong analysis of a good investment drove him to become a Certified Commercial Investment Manager (CCIM). This certification is a demonstration of extensive experience in the financial and market analysis of commercial real estate.
His skill and experience in sales, leasing, consulting and advising of commercial, industrial and investment real estate transactions and strategies led him to create NAI Nashville in the early ’90s. For over 28 years, he built the strategic direction and accelerated profitable growth for the company’s operations as managing partner.
Nate is considered one of the leading authorities on the Nashville real estate market and has consulted on many essential transactions throughout his career.
The amalgamation of experience was the driving force for developing Nashville Colliers International office in 2010. Colliers is a commercial real estate and property management firm that operates on a global scale. They are ranked as the number one property manager in the world and owe this achievement to the experienced leaders who significantly contribute to the team, of which Nate is a part.
The success of his initiatives correlates to the opportunities he’s been given. Recognizing the valuable experiences he’s achieved, Nate uses the opportunity to get involved in Nashville’s community in an effort to help others similarly find success.
Nate drove his first car, a Porsche 356, in 1964 at age twelve after his dad drove the car home one day. As he pulled up, Nate knew exactly what it was — a 1964 Porsche 356C Coupe.
His childhood home had a long driveway where he could “move” it while detailing it for his father each Sunday. The experience inspired the purchase of his first car while in college which was a champagne 1964 356 Cabriolet.
He bought the car from his friend Bill Andree in 1973 and for two years, drove it back and forth to college at UT Knoxville. Upon graduation, Nate was forced to sell this car and buy something more practical. But, swore to himself that one day he would buy another.
Over the years, he managed to buy, restore, and sell many 356’s until he came across a red 1965 356C Cabriolet. He made the purchase back in 1988 and still owns the car today. It’s been with him all over the country and is his transportation of choice when he goes to breakfast with his wife Kim on the weekends. Their favorite spots include Noshville, the Pancake Pantry, and The Loveless Cafe.
In 2015, and after twenty-eight years, the car was completely rebuilt thanks to Matt Froelich in Edgewater, Florida who is a gifted Porsche restorer and now a friend. It’s because of his expertise and attention to detail, the car is like new again and brings a smile on Nate’s face and great pleasure on every drive. Because of his hobby, Nate has had the opportunity to meet some exceptional people in the world through his hobby and the Tennessee Tubs which he founded.
